This comprehensive one-day lecture course is designed to mitigate the risk associated with working in confined spaces. It will benefit anyone who has identified permit required spaces and must develop a written program for identifying and evaluating hazards, preventing unauthorized entry and establishing safe entry procedures. This includes safety personnel, maintenance personnel, facility managers, supervisors and personnel who might work in confined spaces.

Every year, approximately 1.6 million Americans perform some type of work activity in a confined space. Working in a confined space can be dangerous. Accidents occur to workers because they fail to recognize that a confined space is a potential hazard. Serious injury and even death can result from asphyxiation, engulfment, electric shock, falls and heat stress. Every worker entering a confined space should consider that the most unfavorable conditions may exist, and the dangers of explosion, asphyxiation and poisoning are present. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration believes that up to 85% of these accidents can be prevented through a successful confined space entry program.

Any company that uses any kind of lifts or hoists has operators perform those lifts. This practical hands-on course teaches the how to safely rig and lift known weight loads, the most common rigging and lifting activity in the industry.

Participants on this hoisting and rigging training program will learn about rigging safety and how to calculate the weight of a load, common hitch and sling types, ropes, and locating the load’s center of gravity.

This hoisting and rigging training applies to you if your business is in mining, electrical facilities, transportation, construction, the military, forestry, firefighting, lumber production, or even rope rescue. The practical knowledge gained in our Rigging NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) – Level 1 training program will deliver a tangible improvement in both safety and on-the-job performance.

This course is also a test-prep course for the Rigger 1 NCCCO certification. NCCCO is an industry-certification designating someone as a Qualified rigger. Companies are increasingly requiring a Qualified rigger to address insurance costs and damaged-good costs. This course satisfies OSHA’s requirement for a written assessment and practical demonstration exam, administered by a certified rigger, fulfilling a requirement needed to qualify a rigger in their company’s internal rigger program.

NOTE: This is a test prep course. It does not result in NCCCO certification. This course does not “designate” worker as qualified to do rigging. Only the Employer can do this.
