NTT’s National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) training helps utility, facility, engineering, maintenance, and supervisory personnel better understand the safety requirements that apply to electric supply and communication systems. The training is designed to support safer work practices, improved code awareness, and more consistent recognition of field conditions that may require further review.

NTT offers two course options to support different training needs and experience levels.

NESC – National Electrical Safety Code | 24-Hour Course

This three-day course provides a deeper review of the NESC and its application to electric utility systems. Participants work with the codebook while reviewing key requirements related to electric supply stations, overhead and underground lines, grounding, equipment, clearances, and related safety considerations.

The course is appropriate for personnel who need a more detailed working knowledge of the NESC, including those involved in utility operations, maintenance, design support, inspection, supervision, or compliance-related responsibilities.

Includes:

• Guided review of major NESC sections and structure
• Discussion of electric supply stations, overhead lines, underground lines, grounding, and equipment requirements
• Practical use of the codebook to locate and interpret applicable requirements
• Scenario-based activities that connect code requirements to field conditions
• Discussion of when conditions should be escalated for qualified review

NESC – National Electrical Safety Code | 8-Hour Course

This one-day course provides a practical overview of where the NESC applies and how to use the codebook. The course introduces key safety and compliance concepts related to utility-controlled electric supply and communication systems.

The course is appropriate for personnel who need awareness of NESC application, a refresher on key concepts, or a stronger foundation for recognizing conditions that may require additional review.

Includes:

• Overview of the NESC purpose, scope, and codebook structure
• Introduction to electric supply stations, overhead supply lines, underground supply lines, grounding, and related equipment requirements
• Codebook navigation and basic application exercises
• Scenario-based activities to support recognition of potential safety or compliance concerns
• Guidance on escalating questionable conditions to qualified reviewers

Both course options are designed to help participants build practical code awareness, strengthen safety recognition, and support safer, more consistent decision-making when working around utility electrical systems.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Contact Hours

Upon completion of this training program, the attendee will receive a certificate of completion. Please contact your state or local licensing agency to determine if this training program is accepted for Continuing Education recognition by the agency.
