Introduction

Introduction to Machining

Simply put, machining is the process of removing metal. This module is designed to teach you the different methods of removing and shaping metal, as well as common machining operations and the different classification of tools (Estimated completion time: 1.5 hours).

Machine Tools

There are thousands of tools available to perform machining operations. At the end of this module, you will be prepared to identify various classifications of machine tools; list different methods for controlling these tools; summarize the advantages of manual, automatic, and CNC controlled machine tools; and identify major areas of CNC control (Estimated completion time: 0.8 hours).

CNC Controllers

When you complete this module, you will understand the history of CNC machine tools, be able to identify the key components within a CNC controller, and list the common features of a CNC controller (Estimated completion time: 1 hour).

Machining Personnel
